Course Title: Managing E-Waste As A Business: Challenges and Opportunities
Course objective: This course explores the challenges and opportunities in managing electronic wastes in Nigeria. Specifically, the course will review what constitutes e-Waste, challenges that it poses, and the opportunities that may make it possible to effectively manage it. The course will start with introductory materials and explores other components of e-Waste management. A review of the concept of circular economics in the context of e-Waste supply chain management is also presented.
Target audience: The course is open and does not require any prerequisites. It is designed for a general audience that have basic understanding of wastes and their influences on the natural environment.

Instructor bio: Christian N. Madu is professor of environmental management and control at the University of Nigeria (UNN), Enugu campus. He has held several professorial positions including the Shell Professor of Environmental Management at the University of Nigeria, and research professor at a major American university. He served as the director of the Center for Environmental Management and Control at UNN for more than six years. He is the author of more than 150 research publications and more than 17 books. The 2nd edition of his book Handbook of Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing by Springer, USA is scheduled for publication later this year. He has served as a consultant to several international and national organizations and has also served as an external examiner for major universities in USA, Australia, India, and China; and was the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Quality and Reliability Management for more than twenty years. Professor Madu is a leading scholar in the areas of chemical security management, disaster risk management, and sustainability management. He is a fellow of many organizations including Chemical Society of Nigeria, Nigeria Environmental Society, Institute of Strategic Management, Society of Professional Disaster Risk Management of Nigeria, and Institute of Policy Management Development.
